[더인베스터(코리아헤럴드)=박한나 기자] 이달 코스닥 상장을 앞둔 피씨엘(PCL)이 다국적 제약사 노바티스에 다중 체외질병진단 플랫폼 제공을 논의 중인 것으로 알려졌다.
피씨엘 김소연 대표는 3일 더인베스터와의 인터뷰에서 “지난달 유럽 출장 차 방문했던 노바티스가 동반진단에 쓰이는 플랫폼을 피씨엘 제품으로 바꾸고 싶다고 전해 왔다”고 말했다.

노바티스는 현재 임상시험 단계를 거치고 있는 자사 후보 물질 개발에 피씨엘 고유의 면역 다중진단원천기술인 ‘PCL SG CapTM’를 활용하겠다는 복안이다.
김대표는 노바티스가 “기존 사용하던 플랫폼 대신 피씨엘 플랫폼을 활용할 경우 비용을 10분의 1로 줄일 수 있다”며 “결국 원가싸움인 진단 시장에서 민감도도 높고 저비용인 우리 제품을 선호할 수 밖에 없다”고 덧붙였다.
SG CapTM은 기존의 기술보다 1000배 높은 분석민감도를 가지며, 특이도도 높아 다수의 질병을 한번에 정확하게 진단할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다.
피씨엘은 이 원천기술을 바탕으로 다중진단키트 제작, 연구용 시약 판매, 약물 기전 분석 서비스 등 다양한 플랫폼 서비스를 통해 고수익의 안정적인 사업모델을 구축하고 해외진출도 활발히 논의 중이다.
회사는 이미 세계 최초로 고위험군 바이러스 다중진단 임상 통과에 이은 수혈 전 고위험군 바이러스 진단키트 제품(Hi3-1)의 상용화에 성공해 프랑스, 독일, 브라질로 해당 제품 수출을 시작했다.
피씨엘은 오는 8~9일 기관 투자자들을 대상으로 수요예측을 실시하고 13~14일 청약을 진행해 이달 중 코스닥 시장에 상장할 예정이다.

[THE INVESTOR] South Korean biotech firm PCL is in talks with Swiss pharmaceutical firm Novartis to develop companion diagnostics for its products.
“During a meeting last month, Norvatis showed interest in a partnership with PCL to use our multiplex diagnostics platform for companion diagnostics that will be paired with Novartis’ investigational compounds in its development pipeline,” said Kim So-youn, chief executive of PCL, in an interview with The Investor on Feb. 3.
Norvatis, the world’s second-largest pharma firm, mainly uses multiplex immunoassay platforms developed by a US-based biotechnology engineering company. However, it is now considering replacing the platform with PCL’s 3D sol-gel capturing system -- a chip-based multiplex called SG Cap technology.
“Using PCL’s cost-effective SG Cap technology platform will help Norvatis cut its spending on diagnostics testing significantly by one-tenth,” Kim said.
The company’s disease marker immobilization technology, which is 1,000 times more sensitive than existing technology with no cross-reactions or interference, helps to detect various diseases from HIV and influenza to cancer.
Last year, the firm obtained Europe’s CE Marking for its Hi3-1 using SG Cap technology, the first product in the world to be able to detect HIV and HCV simultaneously. The product is being exported to France, Germany and Brazil.
The company, which reported 2.2 billion won (US$1.94 million) in revenue and operating loss of 600 million won in 2016, will be listed on South Korea’s tech-laden KOSDAQ market this month.
