Three South Koreans were injured Saturday as an explosion occurred at a park in Tokyo where a regular cultural exchange event of South Korea and Japan was being held, police said.
The blast occurred at Hibiya Park in Tokyo at around 10:40 a.m., near a booth where injured Koreans were preparing to sell Korean cuisine, due to what seemed like a gas explosion.
The accident occurred before the snack booth opened to the public, they said. The fire was put out by those who were nearby with extinguishers.
The South Korean Embassy in Japan said the hose from a gas supplier seems to have been disconnected as a table supporting it fell.
Police and firefighters said they are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
Though people were restricted from approaching near the scene of the accident, the event continued as planned, they said. (Yonhap)
