Posco Energy has provided financial support for underprivileged children with incurable diseases as part of its regular moves to support those in need, the company said Thursday.

The company said it offered 20 million won ($18,100) to Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation. The fund was raised from monthly donations from employees of 1 percent of their wages.

The fund will be used for the medical expenses of ill children in Incheon, Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, and Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, where Posco Energy offices are stationed.

“The medical cost support project was launched with an aim to meaningfully use the “1 percent donation” of the employees. (The company) hopes the children recover soon with the warm wishes delivered from the workers,” the company said.

Posco Energy has provided financial support for ill children since 2014 with the 1 percent donation program.
