Michael Vetter, CEO of Stuttgart Sports Cars, an official Porsche dealer in Korea, was recently named an honorary citizen of Seoul.

According to the company, Vetter, one of the longest-serving CEOs in the nation’s import car industry, received the citizenship certificate from Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon on Wednesday.

The citizenship is conferred annually on up to 10 foreign nationals who have lived here for at least three years and found to have contributed to the city’s development, city officials said.

Since joining Stuttgart Sports Cars in 2005, Vetter has earned recognition for greatly contributing to the growth of the German sports car brand and the nation’s driving culture overall.

Under Vetter’s leadership, the dealer also has been upping the ante in social contribution. Since 2013, it has been supporting ballet prodigies under the campaign “Drive Your Dream.”

“It is a great honor to be named honorary citizen of Seoul,” Vetter said in a statement. “As the official Porsche dealer, I will consistently make an effort for the development of the domestic car industry and the citizens of Seoul.”
