Incheon International Airport is holding a public music festival featuring diverse, renowned artists this week, in celebration of the airport’s 13th founding anniversary and the 9th anniversary of consecutively ranking No. 1 in airport service quality.

The airport’s “Orchestra Festival” is scheduled to last for five days from March 26-30. Each day, an open-air performance will be staged for roughly one hour starting at 4 p.m. at the Millennium Hall on the ground floor of the passenger terminal. The event is free for anyone visiting the airport.

The upcoming performances will showcase a variety of music genres spanning from classical to traditional Korean music.

Jang Sa-ik, a Korean traditional singer whose voice is said to truly represent the Korean soul, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra will kick off the festival by staging a joint performance on March 26.

On March 27, local actor Kim Tae-woo and pianist Park Jong-hoon will hold a joint concert. Russia’s prominent virtuoso, violinist and conductor Maxim Fedotov will perform with the Mostly Philharmonic Orchestra on March 28.

On March 29, Incheon International Airport’s 13th anniversary, local traditional dance company Supia and fusion traditional music group Lin will stage a joint performance.

On March 30, the Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra, the first orchestra of its kind in South Korea, will wrap up the festival.

“I hope this year’s special orchestra festival, which was organized to return the love we have received, will be enjoyed as a festival full of the vitality of spring,” said Choi Hong-yeol, the acting president of the Incheon International Airport Corporation in a press release.

“We will continuously strive to provide top quality, premium cultural services that surpass the expectations of our visitors,” he added.
