싱가포르 상징 멀라이언, 잠시 안녕

싱가포르 관광청에서 멀라이언 공원 (Merlion Park)에 있는 멀라이언 동상들은 12일, 오늘부터 다음주 금요일까지 보수공사에 들어간다고 더스트레이트타임즈가 보도했다.

관광객들이 몰리는 ‘어미’멀라이언은 보수공사에 포함되지 않으니 싱가포르 관광의 하이라이트인 ‘어미’멀라이언과 사진 찍기에는 영향을 미치지 않을 것이라고 관광청 관계자는 화요일 기자회견에서 밝혔다.

그러나 새끼 멀라이언은 바리케이드가 쳐져 사진을 찍을 수 없을 것으로 보인다.

멀라이언의 입에서 뿜어져 나오는 물은 두 개의 동상 모두 보수공사 내내 꺼져있을 것 이라고 전했다.

Singapore’s symbol Merlion to go under maintenance

The Merlion statues at Merlion Park will be undergoing maintenance this Thursday, Friday and next Monday, the Singapore Tourism Board said.

While maintenance work is in progress, photo-taking opportunities for the main Merlion statue will not be affected as it will not be boarded up, the STB said in a press statement on Tuesday.

But the Merlion cub statue will be barricaded and unavailable for photo-taking.

The water spouts of both the statues will be switched off during maintenance. (The Strait Times)
