U.S. filmmaker Jeffrey Katzenberg brought up an unusual topic -- the U.S. political mess that led to the government shutdown -- when he met with South Korean President Park Geun-hye on Friday, leading her to say "politics is causing many problems in all countries."
Park gave the response after Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation that produced such high-grossing films as "Shrek" and "Kung Fu Panda," asked her what she thought of the political chaos in Washington at the end of their meeting at the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae.
Katzenberg also said the situation in Washington is very disappointing.
Park said politicians are supposed to make their best efforts to help people live better lives, but the reality is far from that.
The remark was also seen as targeting South Korean politics as Park has often accused rival parties of focusing on political bickering without taking care of important bills.
Other issues Park and Katzenberg discussed included her "creative economy" vision that calls for boosting the economy by creating innovative business opportunities and more jobs through the fusion of information technology, culture and other industries.
Katzenberg arrived in South Korea on Thursday for a four-day visit. (Yonhap)
