'후쿠시마 원전' 저장탱크 바닥에 틈새 2곳 발견

일본 후쿠시마(福島) 제1 원전 운영사인 도쿄 전력은 최근 300t의 방사능 오염수가 유출된 지상 저장탱크 바닥에서 2곳의 틈새를 확인했다고 25일 밝혔다.

일본 언론에 따르면 도쿄전력은 오염수가 유출된 탱크를 해체한 뒤 조사하는 과 정에서 탱크 바닥의 볼트 주변에서 틈새 2곳을 발견했다고 발표했다.

도쿄전력은 일단 이 틈새를 통해 오염수 300t이 흘러나왔을 개연성이 있다고 보 고, 정확한 누수 원인을 규명할 방침이다.

앞서 도쿄전력은 오염수 누출 원인을 조사하는 과정에서 저장탱크 바닥의 강판을 연결하는 볼트들이 느슨해져 있는 것을 확인했다고 지난 20일 밝혔다.

Two gaps were found in a storage tank at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant that has leaked 300 tons of radiation-contaminated water, according to the plant’s operator on Wednesday.

Japanese media said Tokyo Electric Power Co. found the gaps near a bolt on the bottom of the steel tank at the plant in northeastern Japan while dismantling it following the leak on Sept. 19.

TEPCO said the highly contaminated water could have leaked through the gaps and continued its inspection on the interior of the plant to find the exact cause of the incident.

On Sept. 20, TEPCO said it discovered five loose bolts on the bottom of the tank that are believed to be the cause.

According to TEPCO, the bottom plate is composed of five steel sheets held together by some 300 bolts.
