모던 록 밴드 넬의 새 음반 의 타이틀 곡 ‘오션 오브 라이트(Ocean of Light)’로 각종 음원 차트 1위를 휩쓸었다.

10일 정오 공개된 ‘Ocean of Light’는 이 날 오후 엠넷닷컴, 벅스 뮤직, 네이버 뮤직, 다음 뮤직 등 주요 음원 사이트 실시간 차트 1위를 차지했다. 특히 네이버 뮤직과 벅스 뮤직 등에서는 음반 전 트랙이 차트에 줄을 세우며 넬의 인기를 입증했다.

이번 앨범은 넬의 "Gravity 3부작"의 두 번째 앨범으로 이전 앨범인 "Holding onto Gravity"의 몽환적이고 음울한 분위기를 벗어나 한층 더 밝고 희망적인 노래를 담고 있다.

옴니버스 방식으로 수록된 이번 앨범의 6개 곡은 꿈을 가로막는 장애물을 중력에 빗대어 그 중력으로부터 벗어나는 주인공의 과정을 한편의 영화처럼 담아냈다.

네티즌들은 “노래가 살아있다” “바다로 빨려 들어가는 느낌” “넬은 그냥 최고” “여름 느낌 제대로 담았다 진짜 대박” 등 다양한 반응을 보였다.

Nell back with melodic synthpop

South Korean modern rock band Nell released its latest album “Escaping Gravity” on Monday with its uplifting title song “Ocean of Light,” sweeping Korea’s major online music charts including Mnet and Bugs. 

As the second part of Nell’s “Gravity Trilogy,” the newly released album escaped the dreamlike and gloomy music style of the previous album “Holding on to Gravity” and the four members came back as a joyous band singing of hopes and dreams.

The new album consists of six songs with an omnibus style featuring six different incidents happening in one character’s life.

“Ocean of Light,” infused with various synthesizers, is generating a positive response among local fans.
