결혼한 지 20년 이상 된 부부가 이혼하는 “황혼이혼” 비율이 처음으로 결혼 생활 4년 이하의 “신혼이혼” 비율을 초월한다고 통계청이 화요일 발표했다.

“황혼이혼” 집계는 2012년 3만 200 건수로 “신혼이혼”의 2만 8200보다 높은 수치를 보였다.

“황혼이혼”은 2011년 2만 8300 건수를 기록한 것에 비해 증가했으며 “신혼 이혼”은 3만 700에 비해 감소한 수치였다.

결혼 차 20년 이상의 부부의 이혼율은 26.4 퍼센트로 가장 높은 비율을 차지 했다.

2012년 총 이혼 건수는 11만 4300명으로 2011년의 11만 4000명보다 증가한 수치이다. 같은 해의 조이혼율 (1년간 발생한 총 이혼건수를 당해 연도의 주민등록에 의한 연앙인구로 나눈 수치를 1,000분비로 나타낸 것)은 2.3에 머물렀다.

반면, 혼인 지속기간 30년 이상인 부부의 이혼 건수는 2012년 8,600 건수를 기록하여 1년 전보다 8.8 퍼센트 증가해 혼인 지속기간별 증가 폭이 가장 컸다.

늦은 나이에도 불구하고 이혼을 감수하는 이유는 평균 수명의 증가로 새로운 삶을 찾아 나서는 사람이 많기 때문으로 보인다.

통계에 따르면, 평균적으로 13.7년의 결혼생활 후, 이혼을 하기 가장 “적당”하다고 말했으며, 남성의 경우 보통 46세에 이혼을 하며, 여성은 42세였다.

서울에 사는 여성의 초혼 평균 나이는 최초로 전국에서 가장 높은 수치인 30.2세를 보였다. 남성일 경우 평균 32세였다. (코리아 헤럴드)

Divorce rate for seniors reaches record

The number of couples who divorced after living together for more than 20 years surpassed those with less than four years of marriage for the first time last year, Statistics Korea said Tuesday.

The number of divorce cases filed by couples married for over 20 years reached 30,200 in 2012, compared with 28,200 of those married less than four years.

This is up from 28,300 in 2011 for divorced couples with 20 years of marriage, but down from 30,700 for those married for less than four years.

Divorced couples after 20 years of marriage accounted for the most, at 26.4 percent of the total.

Last year, a total of 114,300 divorce cases were filed, up from 114,000 in 2011.

The crude divorce rate, or the number of divorces per 1,000 inhabitants, stood at 2.3 in 2012.

Meanwhile, the number of cases filed by divorced couples after more than 30 years of marriage reached 8,600 last year, up 8.8 percent, the biggest rise among all divorce demographics.

More and more aging couples have been filing for divorce as they seek new opportunities to start fresh in life as life expectancy increases in Korea.

Data showed that Korean couples who divorce opt to do so after living together for 13.7 years on average. Men usually filed for divorce at the age of 46 while women 42 on average.

Meanwhile, women in Seoul wed at the average age of 30.2, the oldest nationwide for the first time. Men on average marry at 32.
