슈퍼스타 K4 우승자 로이 킴이 22일 정오, 디지털 싱글 ‘봄봄봄’을 공개했다. 뮤직비디오와 함께 공개된 새 싱글은 발매된 지 두 시간도 채 지나지 않아 각종 음원 차트의 1위를 석권했다.

“봄봄봄”은 국내에서는 생소한 컨템포러리 컨트리 장르이지만 따라 부르기 쉬운 멜로디와 중독성 있는 후렴구로 대중적인 성격을 띤다. 가사 또한 봄의 설레는 기운에 어울리는 순수한 감정을 전달한다.

로이 킴의 새 싱글은 MBC의 “나는 가수다” 음악 감독을 맡았던 정지찬이 편곡했으며, 국내 유명 기타리스트 홍준호와 에이미 와인하우스나 나카시마 미카와 같은 국외 아티스트들과 작업한 경력이 있는 영국 메트로폴리스 스튜디오의 스튜어트 호크스가 마스터링했다.

19일 발표된 티저 영상은 파스텔 톤의 부드러움과 벚꽃 잎의 화사함이 어우러져 많은 이의 호기심을 불러일으켰으며 지난 주 주말 서울N타워에서 열린 로이 킴의 게릴라 콘서트 역시4,000여명의 팬을 모으는 등 새로이 발매되는 노래에 대한 관심이 고조 됐었다.

2012년 발매 된 로이 킴의 첫 자작곡 “스쳐가다”에 이어 두번째 자작곡인 “봄 봄 봄”은 싱어송라이터로써의 로이 킴의 자질을 보여 준다.

Roy Kim’s new single tops online music charts

“Superstar K” Season 4 winner Roy Kim unveiled his digital single “Spring, Spring, Spring” with a music video on Monday, sweeping Korea’s major online music charts Bugs, Mnet and Melon in less than two hours.

“Spring, Spring, Spring” is the 20-year-old singer’s original composition following a contemporary country style. The song features an easy-to-follow melody with a catchy chorus. The song features romantic lyrics to welcome the warmth of the season.

Kim’s new single was arranged by Jung Ji-chan, a music director on MBC’s “I Am a Singer,” and mastered by Stuart Hawks of U.K.’s Metropolis Group. Hawks previously worked with South Korean guitarist Hong Jun-ho and other global artists such as Amy Winehouse and Nakashima Mika. 

The 24-second teaser released on April 19 has attracted much attention from the public. It followed his guerilla performance on April 21 at N Seoul Tower on Mount Namsan, which gathered more than 4,000 fans to hear his new song. 

“Spring, Spring, Spring” is Kim’s second self-composed song, following “Passing By” released in 2012.
