Tickets for this year’s Queen’s Birthday Ball, a glittery and regal gala organized annually to raise money for charity, are now on sale, the British Embassy here and the British Association of Seoul announced on Tuesday.

The Queen’s Birthday Ball is one of the year’s biggest events for the foreign diplomatic and expatriate communities.

The night will include a five-course dinner, delicious wines, a raffle of fabulous prizes and a live auction and dancing to the music of The Light Years, the band which has delighted guests at previous balls.

The theme, which is reflected in the decoration, food and atmosphere of the evening, is only unveiled as guests enter the ballroom.

The annual Queen’s Birthday Ball has raised hundreds of millions of won to support worthy Korean charities over the years. It has also become the integral glue to a rich and lively expatriate and diplomatic community in Seoul.

This year, the Queen’s Birthday Ball will take place on Saturday, June 1 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, starting with cocktails from 6:30 p.m. Tickets for BASS members go for 220,000 won and for non-members 245,000 won.
