A police officer faces suspension and a criminal charge after scratching a parked car, Changwon police said.

The officer, a resident of Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, is alleged to have put a 1-meter scratch into the back side door of the vehicle with a steel clip on Dec. 30.

Three days after the incident, the owner of the car requested to see the recorded footage of CCTV only to find out it was one of the police officers in the district.

“It was hard for me to get by because of Cho’s car. There was no phone number to call, so I scratched the car and went around the other corner,” said the officer in the investigation.

The police disciplinary committee plans to review the officer’s misconduct.

경찰 간부가 주차장 통로를 막은 이웃주민의 차를 홧김에 긁었다가 형사처벌은 물론 징계까지 받게 됐다.

경남 창원중부경찰서는 재물손괴 혐의로 경남 모 경찰서 수사과장 A경감을 불구속 입건했다고 23일 밝혔다.

창원시내에 거주하는 A 경감은 일요일인 지난해 12월30일 오후 5시35 분께 아파트 지하주차장 한쪽에 세워진 B씨의 승용차 운전석 뒷문짝을 철재 클립으로 1ｍ가량 긁은 혐의를 받고 있다.

A경감은 조씨의 차를 밀어도 움직이지 않고 연락처도 없어 홧김에 긁었으며 이 후 차를 다른 통로로 돌려 빼내 경찰서로 출근했다고 경찰 조사에서 진술했다.

A경감이 긁는 장면은 주차장에 설치된 CCTV에 고스란히 찍혀 덜미가 잡혔다.

경남경찰청은 품위손상을 이유로 A경감을 징계위원회에 회부했다. (코리아헤럴드)
