A volunteer program is sending Korean IT experts to help educate communities around the world.

Supported by the National Information Society Agency, the Korea Internet Volunteer program is to send teams of four Korean IT experts to provide free training in various countries for one month between July and August. The program has sent more than 3,400 volunteers to 68 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa since 2001.

The 153 teams to be dispatched are mainly made up of university students with some university professors also participating.

IT volunteers will help with IT education at local schools, universities, NGOs and public organizations as well as sharing Korean culture with the communities they help.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the program, or requesting the volunteers to help their organization, can email the National Information Society Agency on kiv@nia.or.kr or call (02) 2131-0537.
