A mob is set to perform a spontaneous dance to a Michael Jackson tune on the streets of Seoul to raise awareness of World Refugee Day.
The flashmob event will involve dancers moving to pop hit “Black or White” at locations across the capital over two days.
Participants are still being sought for the event, with dance practices to be held at World Cup Stadium Peace Square from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The flashmob performances will then be staged Sunday at Seoul City Hall Square at 12 p.m., Seoul Station at 2 p.m. Myeong-dong at 4 p.m. and Dae Hak Ro at 6 p.m.
The last dance will be at the National Assembly at 12 p.m. on Monday, which is World Refugee Day.
U.N. World Refugee Day commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Refugee Convention and aims to raise awareness on refugee issues worldwide.
Organizers said the event was the first of its kind to bring together all organizations whose work closely relates to refugee issues in and out of Korea.
The project is being jointly organized by The Asia Center for Human Rights, UNHCR Korea, Medipeace, APIL, Nancen and the Korean Public Interest Lawyer’s Group Gong-Gam, P Nan and the National Human Rights Commission Korea.
