A softball match is to be held to raise money for disabled and disadvantaged kids in Busan.

The annual event has raised more than 10 million won ($9,250) so far and organizers hope to raise around 1.5 million won with the 8th tournament on June 12 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Around 100 people have taken part in previous years’ events, with the contest becoming so popular that organizers are trying to hold a second contest on June 18, with playing slots available from 1 p.m. until dark.

Players should make a donation of 20,000 won to take part in the contest, with a group discount available for larger teams.

All cash raised goes to the Shin-Ae Rehabilitation Center and Orphanage in the city.

The center offers dorms, workshops, a chapel, classrooms and even a soap-making shop for use by disadvantaged kids. It also helps to teach disabled and handicapped children life and social skills.

The center also has a printing press, where students can make their own newspaper to help raise funds for the center.

Softball tournament organizer Michael Spiller, who is an English teacher in Busan, said: “It’s always a lot of fun and we get a great turn out to raise a lot of money for people who do great work.”

They should also say whether or not they have a baseball glove they will be bringing to the event.
