Renault’s Formula 1 team will conduct a large-scale demonstration run in Seoul on Oct. 3 ahead of the 2010 F1 Korea Grand Prix, Renault Samsung Motors Co. said.

Renault F1 Machine Festival aims to showcase the company’s technology and promote Korea’s first F1 race to be held in Youngam, South Jeolla Province on Oct. 2224, it said.

The event will get underway in downtown Seoul on the 550 meter route, from Sejong-ro intersection to City Hall, the company said.

“I’m greatly pleased to introduce to Korean customers Formula One, one of the world’s top three sports events, where only advanced auto manufacturers participate,” Renault Samsung Motors CEO Jean-Marie Hurtiger said.

Prior to the demo, Renault Samsung will stage a roadshow parade with its all seven vehicles including SM3, SM5, SM7 and QM5. The company launched and ran a demonstration of the SM3 2.0 racing car at the 2010 Busan International Motor Show early this year.

The company said its F1 car, the R29, was the result of integrating cutting-edge automotive technologies. It is powered by a 750-horsepower 2,400 cc engine.

The Renault F1 team won the 2005 and 2006 F1 World Championships, and supplied an engine to the Red Bull team, the current world champion, which holds the lead in the 2010 F1 Grand Prix championship.
