Mercedes-Benz Korea on Wednesday unveiled its next-generation electric vehicle the Vision EQS concept car for the first time in South Korea.

The Vision EQS was introduced to the public at the 2019 Frankfurt International Motor Show in September last year.

The model shows the company’s design vision for future luxury electric sedans, according to the carmaker, which held its Vision EQS media presentation in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

By adding its top “S” class next to EQ, the automaker aims to take the lead in the large EV sedan market.

The model is expected to be in mass production from next year, although details of the timing have not been released.

Featuring Mercedes-Benz EQ brand’s signature LED lighting, the Vision EQS’ exterior stands out with a light belt attached across the front radiator grille. The newly invented digital light headlamps include two holographic lens modules.

The automaker said the Vision EQS’ interior was inspired by a luxury yacht, offering a modern and luxurious feel through its integrated front dashboard, center console and armrest area.

Both traditional and high-tech materials have been used for the interior, such as maple wood trim, artificial leather, recycled plastic and Dinamica fiber.

The Vision EQS’ electric motor and battery, which have been integrated with the bottom of the body, offer up to 469 horsepower and 77.5 kilogram-meters of torque.

It takes about 20 minutes to charge the vehicle 80 percent with a 350-kilowatt charger. On a single full charge, it can travel up to 700 kilometers.
