Everland theme park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, is holding “2020 Begin Again with Everland,” a series of events to welcome the year 2020 through next February.

Kicking off the events is a drawing contest for children in sixth-grade or younger, which kicked off Monday and will continue until next Tuesday. Those wishing to participate can submit drawings of their goals for the future through Everland’s homepage or its social media pages.

A total of 220 winners will receive prizes including admission tickets, merchandise and gift certificates, and the top artwork will go on display inside the park.

A rollercoaster ride that goes in reverse began test-runs on Friday and is scheduled to open to the general public on Dec. 14.

Several events will take place during New Year’s Eve, including a fireworks show that will be held at the Four Seasons Garden zone. The show will start with a 33-second countdown and reach the climax with the midnight fireworks, which will be three times bigger than the park’s usual fireworks show.

Everland will also hold promotions related to the number 20 or 2020 during the month of January, such as giving discounts to the first 2020 people visiting the park, or to couples celebrating their 20th anniversary, among others. Details will be available via the homepage.

For those who turn 20 in the New Year -- referring to the Korean age 20, which means those born in the year 2001 -- Everland will also hold events to commemorate their coming-of-age. Details for the “Hello My Twenties” will also be posted in the homepage soon.
