More than 8 out of 10 South Korean workers have plans for vacation this summer with their average holiday time above four days, a poll showed Friday.

According to the survey of 1,106 salaried workers by local education service institute Hunet, 83.7 percent of the respondents said they are planning days off for a summer vacation.

More than half of them plan to go on vacation between late July and early August, with their vacation time averaging 4.3 days.

The average cost for the would-be vacationers stood at 596,000 won ($526), higher than the 517,000 won last year, it showed.

The findings also showed 63.5 percent of the surveyed were planning to travel domestically, while 25.3 percent opted for a trip abroad and another 5.8 percent said they would stay home.

Of those who have no vacations plans, 25.6 percent cited economic reasons, with an equal percentage saying they would take days off some other time and another 13.3 percent citing work, the survey said. (Yonhap)
