NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Russia -- South Korea confirmed that their assistant coach Cha Du-ri will be wearing a headset to communicate with coaching staff on the bench during their 2018 FIFA World Cup Group F opening match against Sweden on Monday.

South Korea and Sweden will open their World Cup campaign at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod, some 425 kilometers east of Moscow. The match will start at 3 p.m. local time, or 9 p.m. Seoul time.

A Korea Football Association official said Cha will be with assistant coach Javier Minano and scout Chae Bong-ju to analyze South Korea's performance from the media tribune during the match against Sweden. Minano will be also be using an electronic device to communicate with staff on the bench.

On the South Korean bench, which is only reserved for 23 people -- 12 players and 11 staff members -- assistant coach Jeon Kyeong-joon and his translator will use headsets.

For this World Cup, FIFA approved the use of electronic devices -- one for the analyst from the media tribune and another for the coaching staff on the bench -- to share match data during the match.

Cha, a son of South Korean football legend Cha Bum-kun, has been analyzing Janne Andersson's team, having watched Sweden's two recent friendly matches against Denmark and Peru. (Yonhap)
