Four Samsung Electronics executives who sit on the company's board of directors received nearly 6.8 billion won ($6.08 million) in pay per person in the first three quarters of this year, the tech firm's report showed Wednesday.

The CEOs, all registered members of the board, took away 27.15 billion won during the nine months, averaging 6.78 billion won each. The sum is 2.66 times more than what previous members received during the same months last year, according to the company's third-quarter report. It is approximately 111 times the 61 million won of average pay for company employees.

The report does not specify the amount paid to individual board members, but Kwon Oh-hyun, former head of the company's chip division, is likely to have received more than half of the total. Kwon, who earlier this month was repositioned as chairman of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, had received 13.98 billion won in total payment up to end of second quarter this year, more than double of 5.05 billion won of the next highest-paid board members.

Non-registered board members were given 59 million won on average per person. Those who also have inspection authorities were paid 65 million won on average.

Samsung Electronics is allowed to pay up to 55 billion won a year to the nine registered people on the board of directors. (Yonhap)
