Shinsegae‘s private soju brand Pureunbam has entered the Mongolian market, according to the company Monday.

On Sunday, the first shipment of Pureunbam soju was sent from Incheon to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The products are expected to hit shelves at E-mart’s two branches in Ulaanbaatar in mid-November.

The first shipment includes 19,200 bottles of the low-alcohol “Short Night” and 4,800 bottles of the stronger “Long Night.”

According to Shinsegae, the decision to export Pureunbam soju to Mongolia was fueled by the new brand‘s early success. Since its launch last month, Pureunbam has sold more than 1.3 million bottles, composing 7 percent of all soju in the Jeju area.

Pureumbam is a product launched through a local Jeju soju maker that was acquired by Shinsegae last December.
