Ex-Seoul police chief questioned over bribery allegations

A former Seoul police chief appeared before the prosecution Tuesday to undergo questioning over alleged bribery involving a local businessman.

Goo Eun-soo, an ex-commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, is suspected of receiving tens of millions of won in kickbacks from the chairman of multi-level marketing company IDS Holdings in return for the promotion of a police official. Goo served as Seoul police chief from 2014-2015.

"I will faithfully answer in the investigation," Goo told reporters as he went into the building of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.

The IDS head was sentenced to 15 years in prison last month for fraud in connection with the pyramid scheme business. (Yonhap)
