[THE INVESTOR] The Seoul Family Court will review a high-profile divorce case involving 1.2 trillion won of alimony (US$1.05 billion) between Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee’s eldest daughter Lee Boo-jin and her husband Im Woo-jae, according to news reports.

The family court made the decision based on the residential address that the bickering couple shared together for the last time.

Im, serving as an advisor at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, filed a suit with the Seoul Family Court in Seoul in June, asking for 1.2 trillion won of alimony and division of assets after he lost another suit in Suwon.

The first lawsuit, filed by the junior Lee, CEO of Hotel Shilla, in 2014 at the Seongnam branch of Suwon District Court in Gyeonggi Province ended in favor of the Samsung Group heiress.

The court granted the Hotel Shilla CEO parental rights and custody of their son.

Im filed an appeal at the Suwon court.

If the Suwon court does not transfer its case to the family court in Seoul, the two suits involving the Samsung Group heiress and Im, whose marriage story was considered a male version of fairy tale Cinderella, will be handled at two different courts.
