[THE INVESTOR] Prosecutors will soon summon Park Dong-hoon, former head of Audi Volkswagen Korea, to question him over the automaker’s emissions scandal, local news reported.

Park, who is currently the chief executive of Renault Samsung, headed Volkswagen Korea from its initiation in 2005 to 2013 until he moved to Renault Samsung. 

Prosecutors have found out that Audi Volkswagen Korea manipulated documents of emission and noise level tests for its defective diesel vehicles from August 2010 to February 2015. The company submitted these documents to the Korean government to get approval for sales in Korea.

The automaker is also accused of changing the software of VW’s gasoline model Golf 1.4 TSI to meet the emission and noise level standards.

Earlier last week, prosecutors arrested an executive, identified by his surname Yoon, 52, and put him in custody on charges of submitting manipulated documents to Korean authorities.

Prosecutors are planning on questioning Park to see if he took any part in the scandal or ordered Yoon to manipulate the documents.

“Although Park is an expert in sales and not an engineer, it is necessary to check if he took part in the manipulation of test results or imported uncertified cars,” an official with the prosecution said.
