The year-end and New Year’s donation campaign by the nation’s biggest charity, the Community Chest of Korea, achieved roughly 93.9 percent of its goal, according to its homepage.

As of Sunday, the CCK has raised 322 billion won (268.7 million) in its annual “Hope Sharing Campaign” conducted from Nov. 23 to Jan. 31, by which the organization hopes to raise 343 billion won.

The group’s “Thermometer of Love” at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul - which represents the progress of the campaign in temperature - will reach 100 degrees Celsius upon reaching the goal. Last year’s campaign recorded 100.5 degrees Celsius, hitting the mark on the last day of the campaign.

The annual campaign, which started in 1999, has hit its goal each year except in 2011.
