지난 26일 서울 마포대교에서 투신한 성재기(46) 남성연대 대표의 시신이 사흘만인 29일 오후 서울 서강대교 남단에서 발견됐다.

경찰과 소방당국은 이날 오후 4시 15분께 서강대교 남단 상류 100m 지점에서 강 위에 떠 있는 성씨의 시신을 발견, 둔치로 인양했다고 밝혔다.

성씨는 발견 당시 맨발이었으며 흰색 긴팔 셔츠와 쥐색 바지를 착용하고 있었다.

당국은 이날 오전 9시부터 순찰정 3척과 수상안전팀 12명을 동원해 마포대교 남단 전망대 하류 100∼300m 구간에서 수중 수색을 벌였다.

성 대표는 지난 25일 남성연대 홈페이지에 “남성연대 부채 해결을 위해 1억 원만 빌려달라”, “내일 한강에서 뛰어내리겠다”는 글을 올린 뒤 하루만에 마포대교에서 한강에 투신했다. (연합뉴스)

Body of Sung Jae-gi found in Han River

The body of Sung Jae-gi, a men’s rights activist who had jumped off a bridge into the Han River on Friday, was found near Seogang Bridge on Monday.

“The body assumed to be Sung’s was found near Bam Island close to Seogang Island at 4:10 p.m.,” said an official from the local fire department.

The fire authorities had announced the termination of the search operation for Sung earlier in the day after three days of intense underwater and visual searches near the Mapo Bridge, where Sung threw himself into the river.

Sung, who led a civic group called “Man of Korea,” wrote a controversial note on Thursday, saying that he would risk his life in order to attract 100 million won ($89,970) in donations to pay off the agency’s debt.
