“캐리비안의 해적” 히로인 키이라 나이틀리(28)가 토요일(현지시각) 그녀의 영국 락 밴드 "클락손스" (Klaxons)의 보컬인 남자친구 제임스 라이튼(29)과 오직 11명의 하객 앞에서 소박하게 결혼식을 치러 화제다.

프랑스 남부 작은 마을 시청에서 진행된 이들의 결혼식은 가족들과 남편의 밴드 그룹 맴버들만 참석했으며 진행 방식도 시장이 주례를 보는 등 조촐하고 소박하게 진행 됐다.

일반적인 "할리우드 스타"가 거행하는 화려한 웨딩마치 대신, 나이틀리는 샤넬 자켓과 미니드레스, 그리고 핑크색 단화만으로 치장했으며, 티아라 대신 데이지 화관을 선택했다. 그녀의 남편 역시 짙은 푸른색 양복에 선글라스를 쓰는 등 간편한 복장의 모습이었다.

짧은 결혼식이 끝난 후에도 나이틀리는 소형차 르노 클리오를 타고 자리를 빠져 나갔으며, 목격자에 의하면 소규모 하객 덕분에 어떠한 소란도 피우지 않았다고 한다. 심지어 하객 중에는 청바지나 샌달을 신는 등 격식 없는 모습도 보였다고 한다.

피로연 역시 시청에서 얼마 떨어지지 않은 나이틀리 가족의 집에서 50명 이하의 손님들과 조촐하게 치러질 예정이며 하객으로는 시에나 밀러와 칼 라거펠트 등이 초대됐다.

나이틀리는 과거 한 인터뷰에서 자신은 여느 여자와 달리 결혼식에 대한 어떠한 환상도 가지고 있지 않다고 말한 바 있으며 화려한 결혼식을 준비하는 것 자체가 "무섭다"고 말했었다.

이제 막 신혼부부가 된 이들은 2011년 친구 알렉사 청의 소개로 만났으며 지난 해 5월 약혼했다.

Kiera Knightley ties the knot in South of France

British actress Keira Knightley tied the knot with her musician boyfriend James Righton in the South of France on Saturday, keeping it as simple as possible with a small number of guests and a compact car for transportation. 

“It was amusing to see them being driven away in a battered old Renault Clio – it certainly looked as though it had seen better days,” one of the onlookers said.

Knightley, best known as the heroine of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” was in a Chanel jacket and a mini dress with a simple daisy chain in place of a tiara. Her counterpart, Righton -- a member of an indie rock band Klaxons -- wore a dark blue suit. 

The newlyweds got their blessings from their small party of 11 guests, including family members and close acquaintances from the husband’s rock band. The short celebration was kept so discreet and casual that some of the guests were seen wearing jeans and flip-flops. 

The 28-year-old actress had once said in an interview that she was not the kind of girl who fantasizes about a grand wedding. She said the idea of wedding planning was “terrifying” to her. 

Knightly, in keeping her words with the interviewer, drove away in a silver Renault Clio after the wedding so small it hardly made a sound, according to one of the witnesses.

The reception was also to be kept small with no more than 50 guests including Sienna Miller and Karl Lagerfeld at the bride’s family house nearby.

The couple met through mutual friend Alexa Chung in 2011 and got engaged in May 2012.
