축구 팬들이 뽑은 올 한해 최고의 경기에 일본과의 런던올림픽 동메달 결정전이 선정됐다.

대한축구협회는 14일부터 13일간 인터넷 홈페이지에서 실시한 ‘2012 올해의 베스트’ 팬 투표 결과 일본과의 올림픽 3~4위전이 올해의 경기로 뽑혔다고 27일 밝혔다.

한•일전으로 관심을 끈 올림픽 동메달 결정전은 총 999표 가운데 절반 이상인 540표를 얻었다.

8월11일 영국 카디프에서 열린 런던올림픽 남자 축구 동메달 결정전에서 한국은 박주영(셀타 비고)과 구자철(아우크스부르크)의 골에 힘입어 2-0으로 승리, 사상 첫 올림픽 메달을 따냈다.

승부차기까지 가는 혈전 끝에 영국 단일팀을 꺾은 런던올림픽 8강전은 258표로 2위를 차지했다.

3위는 11월18일 열린 아시아축구연맹(AFC) 19세 이하(U-19) 챔피언십 이라크와의 결승전(75표)이 뽑혔다.

올해 베스트 골은 런던올림픽 동메달 결정전 일본과의 경기에서 박주영이 넣은 선제골이 456표의 지지를 받아 1위에 올랐다.

박주영은 수비수 4명을 속이고 천금 같은 결승골을 터뜨려 한국 축구의 사상 첫 메달 사냥에 앞장섰다.

같은 경기에서 터진 구자철의 쐐기골은 219표를 기록해 2위, 영국 단일팀과의 8강전에서 나온 지동원(선덜랜드)의 중거리슛은 114표로 3위를 차지했다.

한편, 국가대표와 올림픽 대표팀의 주축으로 맹활약한 기성용(스완지시티)은 306표를 얻어 올해의 선수에 오르는 영예를 안았다.

올림픽 대표팀의 주장이던 구자철(213표), 프로축구 울산 현대를 AFC 챔피언스 리그 우승으로 이끈 이근호(180표)가 차례로 그 뒤를 이었다.


Olympic bronze medal contest voted best S. Korean football match of 2012

South Korea‘s 2-0 victory over Japan to claim the men’s football bronze medal at the London Olympics this past summer was voted the country‘s best football match of the year, an online poll showed Thursday.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) said in an online survey conducted on its Web site from Dec. 14 to 26, the bronze medal contest received 540 of 999 votes.

By beating its regional sporting rival, South Korea captured its first Olympic football medal.

Also at the London Olympics, South Korea stunned the host-country Britain in the quarterfinals, taking the match 5-4 in the penalty shootout. That game was ranked second in the KFA survey with 258 votes.

Forward Park Chu-young scored the first goal of the bronze medal game, which was voted the best goal of the year in the same KFA survey. Park, after taking control of the loose ball near center, charged up the middle and danced his way past four Japanese players to put South Korea on the board. The score received 456 votes.

Koo Ja-cheol, the Olympic team captain, added the second goal against Japan in the second half, and his play came in at second in the survey with 219 votes.

Ki Sung-yueng, midfielder for Swansea City in English Premier League and a key member of the Olympic squad, earned 306 votes from fans to be named South Korean player of the year. Last week, he was also named the KFA men’s player of the year.

Koo was second in fan voting KFA poll with 213 votes, followed by Lee Keun-ho, who received 180 votes after helping his K-League side, Ulsan Hyundai Tigers, to the AFC Champions League title this year. (Yonhap News)
