The works of one of Czech’s most famous graphic artists are being displayed at a special Korean exhibition.

The embassy has put on a display of contemporary works by Karel Demel. The imaginative and dreamlike works are being shown at the Czech Info Center in Seoul

Demel was born in Prague in 1942. He first studied music, graduating from the Prague State Conservatory in 1963 as a trombonist. After two years as an army musician he became a student at the College of Fine Arts, studying graphics under Jiri Anderle. He has been one of the best-known Czech graphic artists since the mid-1970s.

Although the exhibition is the first in Korea, Karel Demel has held many solo exhibitions in his homeland and abroad. His works have been displayed across Europe as well as in African, Asian and Latin American countries.

The Seoul exhibit is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday between 2-5 p.m. until the end of June.
