Mayors representing the cities with the largest ports in Korea and Morocco signed a sister city agreement, as Busan hopes to break into the African market.

The deal concluded on April 26 saw Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik and Casablanca Mayor Mohamed Sajid agree to cooperate on economic matters, culture, tourism, sports and civil exchanges, while also promising to work together on the co-development of both cities.

“We plan to share our know-how in port logistics knowledge, which is the great strength of the two cities, and find new paths for Busan company products in Africa,” said Hur.

Besides being the largest port in Morocco, Casablanca is also the North African country’s economic capital.

“We will use this opportunity to advance into the African market through this sisterhood relationship,” added Hur.
