ASEAN Center opens multimedia contest

The ASEAN-Korea Center launched this year’s multimedia competition for university students and young artists in ASEAN member states and Korea.

Entering its third year, the competition aims to promote mutual understanding and create avenues of exchange between the young generation of Southeast Asia and Korea through multimedia including photography and video artworks.
The 2011 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition is composed of two categories: photography and digital media arts.

Submissions for both categories are accepted until May 31.

Along with the cash prize, winners residing in ASEAN countries will be invited to Seoul for the award ceremony, workshop and will be presented with opportunities to introduce their artworks to the contemporary art circles in Asia.

Winners will be announced on June 13 on the Center’s website with an exhibition running from July 28 to Aug. 14 at the Palais de Seoul.

The seminar and workshop will run from July 27-28 at Hongkik University.

The ASEAN-Korea Center is an intergovernmental organization established in March 2009 to promote economic and socio-cultural cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Korea.

ASEAN is made up of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
