A free screening of the documentary “63 Years On” will take place Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. at Dongguk University in Jung-gu, Seoul.
After the screening, in the Deokam Seminar Room on the first floor of the 90th Anniversary Commemorative Munhwa Gwan, viewers may take part in a brief question and answer session
The film, directed by Kim Dong-won, tells the stories of five “comfort women” forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. The film is being screened by the House of Sharing’s International Outreach Team, who work to raise awareness of the Japanese military’s sexual slavery during World War II and support the comfort women.
The team consists of foreign and local volunteers who lead English tours at the House of Sharing and works to highlight sexual violence during war against women and children around the world.
To get there, go to Dongguk University Subway Station. Depart through Exit 6, then follow the road to the Lee Hae Lang Fine Arts Theater. The Munhwa Gwan, or cultural center, is the building at the back of the theater. For more information contact Shannon Heit at 010 4534-1553.
